Pizza Margherita

Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind.

At the moment, pizza Margherita was on my mind, because I was eating it. It makes a great answer, because it’s one of my lifelong favorites. Wherever I go, I always try a pizza Margherita, I’ve had some amazing and some amazingly bad ones through my life.

For some reason I never seem to get bored of it, and of course it’s super simple. Anyway, I love it, quindi, I will keep eating it!

The story of pizza Margherita

If you’ve ever bitten into a classic pizza Margherita, tangy tomato sauce, creamy mozzarella, and fresh basil. You’ve tasted a piece of Italian history.

Legend has it that in 1889, Queen Margherita of Savoy visited Naples, curious about the humble dish beloved by the locals. To impress her, local pizzaiolo Raffaele Esposito prepared three different pizzas. One of them featured ingredients chosen to mirror the colors of the Italian flag: red (tomato), white (mozzarella), and green (basil). The queen declared it her favorite, and thus, Pizza Margherita was born, named in her honor.

Though historians debate how much of the story is myth versus marketing, there’s no denying its lasting charm. Simple, patriotic, and delicious, the Margherita remains a timeless symbol of Italy on a plate.

Allora, I have the same taste as the queen!

Buon appetito!
