Welcome to today’s prompt, the question is stated above and here is my response to it.
Thanos (MCU)
The super villain Thanos, he is my choice for this, and let me explain short what he is about. He searches the universe for something called the infinity stones, there are six of them and if he gets all of them, he gets ultimate power. And with this ultimate power, he wants to…
Halve half of all life in the universe.
Yes, with one snap of his finger, he can cut all life in the entire universe into half. A fair cut, they would all be randomly chosen, so both rich and poor, smart or dumb, it does not matter. A fair cut in half.
Why does he want to do it?
Because he grew up seeing how overpopulation ruined his home, and have seen the effect in multiple places in the universe. The effects being famine, wars over resources and in the end the death of civilizations. Thanos wants to avoid all the suffering that comes with it by halving the population, thus freeing up more territory and resources. Effectively ending famine, poverty and the wars that erupts due to lack of resources.
Why do I agree with him?
Because the same thing is happening here on earth, if our gradual increase in population keeps increasing at this speed, it won’t take long until all our resources are used up, and we will have to fight for the scarcity that is left. This will result in a lot of pain, loss, wars, lives lost, and ultimately we will destroy ourselves in our conquest for resources and survival.
I believe that we can avoid this by the same way Thanos believe. However, I believe and think that nature will solve this by itself, in the form of natural disasters wiping out a lot of life on the planet. Or we ruin so much of nature in our conquest, that we initially force our population down anyways.
If we cut the population in half, just in the blink of an eye, we would have much more resources available for each person. A good thought, but of course morally and realistically not possible.
However, that is my response to this prompt!
