This is Ducky!

What personal belongings do you hold most dear?

Here you go, the answer is right there in the featured image, and her name is Ducky. She was a random cute duck item that I bought at a market sale ten years ago. Little did I know that she would become so valuable to me, it is only a year ago that I realized that she is a sponge meant for kids to use in the shower. Quite fitting though, she is a duck after all.

Why?

Yeah this is a good question, and I do not really have a good answer to this, it is just a strange phenomenon that occurs when you buy something and over time it grows in value. I bought her immediately when I saw her, I think her price was around 30NOK at that time, but honestly today I would pay a lot to get her back. And I pray to God that I won’t lose her.

She has become quite a lucky charm, as I always take her with me on travels, I initially started doing this because I wanted to make an Instagram account for her named Ducky goes around. But it never happened because I was too lazy, I did it halfway though. Because, I did bring her on all of my travels, just to take some funny photos of her in different places, to post on my own Instagram stories. Posting the photos weren’t always consistent, but bringing her with me was.

My last trip I realized that if someone stole the backpack that she was in, I would not care so much about the other contents of the backpack, as long as I got her back. And let me say, in my backpack there’s usually a camera and an iPad. It would suck to lose those, but they are however replaceable over time. Ducky is not, and even if I found a similar sponge duck, it would not be Ducky. And over ten years, she has been quite a lot of places.

Which again makes her one of my most important personal belongings, it’s not about the initial value of an item, but the value it gets over time.
