Last Christmas
Last December, while being home with my family for Christmas, my parents have adopted a new habit. To watch walking videos on YouTube, and several nights we spent watching videos of people walking places where we have been previously.
It was very interesting, as some of the places we watched have changed so much since the last time I was there. A nice view and a good way to catch up on the places, and maybe also some inspiration to return.
I found it a bit strange to begin with, as some of the videos were just some guy talking about the things he saw while walking, others were just the noise of the area, no commentary. However, both types of videos were nice to watch.
My dad jokingly said that I also should do these kinds of videos when I travel, and I laughed and said as if. But, later that night and the following days, I started thinking, why not?
An idea was born
I already have a lot of camera equipment from the days when I dreamt about making vlogs and being a video game streamer on Twitch. (I still do that sporadically.) So, why not? I could not find a valid reason to deny the idea, and also for a long time I wanted to do something creative again, but low key, as I have not had time or energy to do almost anything for the past six months.
But this, this was a perfect idea, I travel mostly alone anyways, and what I do on my travels is exactly that, walk a lot and explore a lot. Perfect for just bringing a GoPro and just film while I walk. Then add some music to it later or add commentary. Not much effort, and maybe someone likes to see the places I visit.
So with that idea, I decided to rebrand my YouTube channel and start uploading walking videos. The first one was made in Oslo, where I live, on a very cold day. Instead of saying anything more, I will just post it here so you can watch it.
My first walking video, Oslo!
