Are there any activities or hobbies you’ve outgrown or lost interest in over time?
The answer to this is sadly yes, I have had a hobby for a long time, but for now I think I have lost it. The hobby has been photography, and yes I am fully aware that I currently run a blog which states that photos are part of it, but it’s a bit different now.
Time flies
Before, I used to spend many hours on my laptop, editing and tweaking photos to eagerly share on instagram or other social media. The time flew away, and I wasn’t even noticing that I could spend hours on one image alone.
Now this doesn’t happen anymore, I usually take photos and I tweak them for a couple of minutes and then it’s good enough. Then I post them, and I haven’t even spent time organising my photo library for over a year. Something of that hobby has died, I don’t really know why or how.
Don’t force creativity
One thing I have learned is that you can never force creativity and will, so for now I am settled with the fact that my interest for photography has taken a step down. Maybe it’s permanent, maybe it’s not, currently I don’t know.
I tried to fight it by buying a new camera, a small and portable one. So that I could easily take it with me everywhere. Before this, I always brought many kilos of camera and equipment, mostly everywhere I went. Along the way I got tired of this, and wanted to go back to basics, small camera, a “do-it-all” lens, and that’s all.
Future snapshots?
What I will do in the future, I don’t know, but currently I’m happy with just snapping here and there, I’m even considering swapping from RAW to JPG again, and it’s almost 20 years ago since I made the switch from JPG to RAW. Feels weird, but hey, what can you do?
For now this is how it is, internally I hope I can regain the love for this hobby, sometime in the future!
